Back to the table
My Tuesday mornings of late have been devoted to coffee at Headrush with a neat lady who’s become a wonderful friend in a short time. We are kindred hearts in so many ways, and she’s made me laugh out loud so much! It’s such fun hanging out with her.
Among many other delightful and odd rabbit trails this week, we wondered together what really goes through the minds of people who hurt other people. Are they even remotely conscious of how their behavior affect others? Do they even care? Those questions rambled on to how do you find enough whatever to keep participating and--knowing it’s not all about just yourself--do so with any kind of grace and selflessness when you’re running on fumes and clueless as to how to plug in again. We jumped off pretty deep for seven o’clock in the morning.
So, being up to my eyeballs in packing, I thought it would be a good time to pull this post forward again. Here I’ve been starting over again, and the table is groaning. It seems like the questions are even more upending than 22 years ago and it doesn’t feel like there have been many answers that I like this past 12 months. But I remain convinced that God is still putting things together, in His timing, tweaking this and that understanding in my heart so He can lay in another piece. As He does, even more interested in my relief than I am. God is still pulled up to my table.
I hope that you also know the relief of a good sturdy table.
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62:8
