Looking up
To you who responded to last week’s depressing drop with love and prayers and “How can I help?” -- from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU.
This past issue, the pertinence of which keeps cropping up, is a fair picture of where I am. Kind of reeling, yet hopeful. I keep thinking how bad it would be if I didn’t have the peace of the Lord Jesus as the undercurrent of every day, if it was just me and my wits against the world and the devil. If I didn’t have such staunch prayer support. Doubt I’d be a very pleasant person to hang out with in the alternative scenario.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21
Teach me Your way, Lord, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies.
Do not turn me over to the desire of my enemies, for false witnesses have risen against me, and the violent witness.
I certainly believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord. Psalm 27: 11-14
Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:24
I’m weary of my whiney woes hijacking this newsletter, so I’m entertaining the rumblings of determination to wrangle something more palatable for you soon. Like a review of one of these books I’ve been devouring during this time. While they’re still fresh in my brain. Hmmm. Which one?
Toward the promise,
Lana
Through the Bible in a Year Reading Plan and Challenge
End of the month check in time! Are you keeping up with the readings? Those of you who have joined the challenge, let me know as per usual. For those of you who are simply staying with it—Good for you!
And here we begin with the Epistles, the shorter letters that can be read in one sitting if you’re ambitious. I like how the first half of the most of these letters is weighty with good, chewy theology, and the second half gets really practical. The Epistles are great for book studies that don’t get overwhelming before you’re done.
