Why I talk to God, listening to the words I use, and why I sit in silence before Him:
To tell Him what I really think and want
To discover what I really think and want
To petition Him for help and for better, for myself and others
To discover my current state of mind
To discover how I am being petty or rebelliously self-sufficient
To consciously rehearse reliance on Him
To worship Him
To commit to submission and humbling myself before Him
To practice patience and endurance
To recall the past and God’s faithfulness to me
To consciously wait on Him
To hold space for His activity and work in my life
To express gratitude
To make space for Him to speak to me
To be open to what I do not know to expect
I invite you to try it yourself.
Toward the promise,
Lana

What is it that sends you out early
with your bucket and your grabber
To walk the grounds of this rundown dump
and pick up trash-cigarette butts-rejected mail
Every morning
To sweep up the remodeling debris
To close the door on the dumpster and
Tuck it all in neatly
Every morning
And what are your headphones pumping into your ears?
It builds up and looks bad you said
When I thanked you and helped you heave the
abandoned footstool into the roll-off
I saw you walking the neighborhood streets
with your bucket and headphones
taking care
Isn’t it funny how
some of us let our personal demons
drive us
Toward
making things better for others

I could not go a day without talking to God. And regarding people that walk or bike with ear buds on, It is so dangerous. Some end up in the hospital with a long recovery and will never get around like they use to.
